Tagore Memorial Grove
To pay homage to Rabindranath Tagore, and leave a timeless landmark to his philosophy and ideas, TSH recently inaugurated a permanent Memorial to Tagore at the Ray Miller Park in Houston, TX. The Memorial was opened on Feb 25, 2023. The memorial, an unique integration of architecture, art and tradition, includes information on many facets of Tagore’s life and achievements, and several memorable quotes, poems and thoughts.
Tagore Passport Scholar Program at University of Houston
Tagore Society of Houston(TSH) has taken up the mission of sharing, spreading and promoting the ONE WORLD philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore and to that end has initiated a number of programs in the field of education. One of the key initiatives is the award of an annual Scholarship at the University of Houston for one semester of study on Tagore. The scholarship is open to all students enrolled in full time study and has a scholarship value from $1000-$5000 depending on the scope of study proposed. The University provides a grant of $1000 as additional funds if the student desires to travel to Shantiniketan.

TSH has been organizing an annual Essay Competition based on a selected Tagore quote. Since 2014 this program has gained national exposure, the contestants belong to different ethnicity and background coming from various US states. The competition has been judged by group of eminent individuals from the fields of education, politics, legislature, business, media etc.
The top three winners, apart from receiving cash prize and certificate, become the ambassadors of TSH, promoting our mission of universalism.
